Avantes’ new AvaSpec-HERO is based on a high-sensitivity, compact optical bench (f = 100 mm, NA = 0.13) and a 1024× 58 backthinned CCD detector. It is equipped with TE cooling enabling long integration times in low-light applications. The company’s AS7010 electronics, including a high end A/D convertor, enhance signal-to-noise ratio and dynamic range. A selection of gratings and replaceable slits enables flexible configuration of the instrument over its spectral range of 200–1160 nm. Connectivity is provided by USB3 and Ethernet interfaces. Applications include fluorescence, Raman and absorption.
