The 70 mm2 SDD has triple the count rate of a 25 mm2 SDD with the same performance. It is available in the same TO-8 package used with all Amptek detectors, making it a drop-in replacement. Other features include 123 eV FWHM resolution at 5.9 keV, count rates >2,000,000 cps and peak-to-background ratio of 26,000 : 1. It can be used in ultra-fast benchtop and handheld XRF analysers, in an EDS system, for on-line process control and in X-ray sorting machines.
