This company is a spin-out from the University of Texas at Austin, where research into the discovery of Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) has been undertaken. The LanthaLux reader is a handheld device using fluorescence detection of LanthaHD test strips with customisable MOF areas consisting of different lanthanides in varying ratios, which create sensors for a broad array of chemicals. Initial applications are for water in organic solvents and isotopic purity. Initial experiments comparing D2O purity by the LanthaLux/HD method with 500 MHz NMR showed comparable results over a wide range of purities.
