ABB have introduced the Ability mobile gas leak detection system. It is based on ABB’s laser, off-axis ICOS analyser for methane and ethane. This is mounted in a vehicle along with a GPS sensor, a sonic anemometer and proprietary leak detection software that provides real-time geospatial maps of multiple gas concentrations. Data can be reported at driving speeds up to 55 mph.
